Switches Tab

The Switches are used to change preferences on how the software performs certain behaviours. Checking a box will activate that switch.


Louise would like to use the Bulletin feature to send out messages to HIFIS users. She can use the Switches to ensure that the Bulletin appears whenever a user starts up the software.

Defining Some of the Choices

Show Bulletins on Start-up: ensures Bulletins will be shown after a user logs on to HIFIS.

Protect Client Comments: only Administrators and the user who entered the comment will be allowed to see comments about Clients.

Check for Software Updates on Mondays: A software update check is performed each Monday when you log in. Updating your software will ensure that you always have the latest enhancements and bug fixes. This also makes it easier for the Support Desk to help you if you ever need their assistance.

Bed availability visible on Web is only applicable for shelters. It allows HIFIS users from different service providers to see, over the Internet, if beds are available in their region in case a client needs to be transferred or turned away. Once an empty bed has been identified, you can contact the other service provider to make a reservation. However, you can only check bed availability in other shelters if you and the other service provider have both enabled the bed availability function.

Last Dates Tab

The Last Dates tab helps the service provider keep track of the dates of the last Backup, Export, Software Update, and Usage Log Export. Every time one of these functions is performed, HIFIS automatically updates the dates and times displayed in Last Dates.
