Working with Records
What is a record?
A group of related information that is captured and treated as a meaningful unit becomes a “record” when saved in the HIFIS database.
Did you know?
Information entered in a person’s first name field, last name field, date of birth field, phone number field and e-mail field is combined together to make a unique Person Record in the database.
Person First Name + Person Last Name + Person Date of Birth + Person telephone number + Person email address = Unique Person Record
It is possible to link records to each other to add even more meaning to a record. For example, a Person Record in HIFIS could be linked to a Client Record as a contact person.
Janine can see that much of her daily work at the House of Hope will be to create, edit and save records.
Below you will find two Show me demonstrations and a Let me try simulation. You may wish to try to create a new Person record in the simulation, or you can watch the demonstrations and then try it yourself.

Show me a demonstration of how to edit a Person Record.
Let me try to create a new Person Record on my own.
The simulation uses screenshots from the live HIFIS application and creates a realistic environment where you can practice the skills you have learned.
As you move through the simulation, you will be provided with data to enter and feedback on your progress.
If you are unclear how to proceed, the simulation will help you with the next step.
