Essential Tasks: Welcome
There are certain tasks that all HIFIS users will need to be able to do, like backing up the HIFIS database to make sure you don't lose important information. Other tasks will be based on the type of organization you work for. Most communities include a number of organizations providing a variety of goods and services to homeless and at-risk clients. They may provide goods such as bedding, clothing, groceries and hot or cold meals. They may provide services such as counseling, money management or housing search programs. HIFIS helps these organizations and shelters offering such goods and services to manage their operations and fulfill reporting requirements.
This module contains the following topics. Select a link to access a topic or use the "Next Page" button to progress through the topics in order.
Goods and Services
All service providers may need to record the goods and services they provide to their communities; often there may be a cost per unit involved that needs to be reported to funders.
Creating Meal Records
Some service providers need to record the number of hot and cold meals they distribute; this can be used in place of the food bank feature (which is not yet available).
This is a new feature in HIFIS 3.8 where you can create a wait list for a high demand good or service, and add clients to it.
Backing up the Database
Backing up the HIFIS database must be done regularly to avoid data loss.
