Frank is working at the King Street Food Bank when a new client enters. The young man, Cam Bera, asks if he could access some food as his welfare cheque has run out and there is still a week left in the month.

Frank invites the man to an empty desk with a computer so he can record his information and see how he could help. Frank chats with him for a while to put him at ease before he begins asking questions. The young man, Cameron, who goes by “Cam” is reluctant to provide information, but Frank is able to get his name and the fact that he was born in Canada.

He also found out that Cam is now between jobs, has a place to live, and most of his welfare money goes to pay the rent on his small apartment.

Frank determined that he could immediately provide some help to Cam by giving him a toiletry kit and some warmer clothes. He could also provide some food to tide him over until his next cheque comes in.

Step by Step

  1. Frank searches HIFIS for a client record for Cam. No record exists.
  2. He then creates a client record for Cam.
  3. He returns to the Front Desk Menu and selects the Goods and Services button.
