The Government of Canada is committed to developing a Social Innovation and Social Finance Strategy, and consulted with Canadians between September 2017 and January 2018 to gather their views and ideas to help develop this strategy.
Thank you to everyone who sent in their stories and feedback to help shape a strategy that will support communities and improve the lives of those who need it most. In the coming months, the Government of Canada will release a report based on what was heard during the consultation.
What this consultation focused on
The Government is committed to developing a Social Innovation and Social Finance Strategy to find new innovative approaches that improve the well-being of Canadians and help communities address their most difficult problems.
To gather ideas from communities and regions across Canada, the Social Innovation and Social Finance Strategy Co-Creation Steering Group launched an online consultation in September 2017. Members of the Steering Group also hosted a number of meetings, involved over 120 experts and practitioners in an online deliberative process, and took part in events such as social finance forums.
Who was consulted
More than a thousand people took part in our online consultation – participating in the discussion forum, taking quick polls and sharing their stories. We have heard from think tanks, cooperatives, social enterprises as well as business and community leaders.
