Apathy is Boring - RISE

Transcript

I mean, the first thing is that I do think that apathy is very boring. Immediately, I’m like “Yeah, I agree.”

The whole idea of voting, or the idea of having young people that are engaged in community, was really foreign to me. So, I think that the whole idea of RISE is just amazing: it’s for the youth, by the youth.

[It’s] not because of our age that we can’t do anything, but we have a place in this society.

I would like to change something, like, do something to help people with mental health, help minorities - Everybody that I can in any way that I can.

Because there aren’t only two social classes of people in our society: there are dozens, thousands even. So by having all kinds of people around the table, engaging in a dialogue together, we can find common ground and have honest discussions in the public sphere around the positive changes we need to make as a society.

I’ve been kind of sitting on the sidelines too much in terms of Indigenous issues. I want it to be something that goes on forever, and has some kind of initiative that the next group of youth Ambassadors can take that torch and run with it.

I want something solid and concrete to be established that’s going to provide value to the people that need it.

I’m not into politics, I’m in it reluctantly because of the people I care about and knowing how much it impacts them. If it’s not me, who would be most likely occupying my space?

So, so incredible. I feel like, for the first time this year, I’m doing something that really matters. It’s a really, really nice feeling.
