View estimated CPP benefits

If you have contributed to the Canada Pension Plan, you can view your estimated monthly CPP benefits using the “Estimated monthly CPP benefits” link.

Starting in 2019, the CPP will be gradually enhanced. Current benefit estimates do not reflect these changes.

Applying for a CPP retirement pension

Apply for your CPP retirement pension now by signing into or registering for My Service Canada Account. While applying, you may now:

  • add a federal voluntary tax deduction;
  • request to receive your tax slips online, rather than by mail; and
  • request the child-rearing provision.

You will not be able to apply online if:

  • you are not, at least one month past your 59th birthday;
  • you are currently receiving a CPP retirement pension;
  • you have already applied for the CPP retirement pension and Service Canada is currently assessing your application;
  • you are currently or were previously receiving a CPP disability benefit;
  • you previously received a disabled contributor’s child benefit or a surviving child’s benefit;
  • you were previously receiving a benefit that was paid to a designated third party;
  • you currently live outside of Canada;
  • you only have QPP contributions;
  • you are a CPP and QPP contributor residing in Quebec; or
  • you have an authorized third party on your account.

If any of the above applies to you, you will need to complete the Application for a Canada Pension Plan Retirement Pension and include certified true copies of the required documentation, and mail it or bring it to the Service Canada Centre closest to you. Mailing addresses are provided on the form.

Child-rearing provision

If you are currently receiving a CPP retirement pension, or you have already applied for the CPP retirement pension and Service Canada is currently assessing your application, you may request the child-rearing provision by selecting the “Request my child-rearing provision” link.

Viewing my application status

Select the “Application status” link to view messages about the current status of your CPP or OAS application.

Viewing my payment information

Select the “Payment information” link to view payment details and print an official proof of payment report of your CPP and OAS benefits. You will be able to view your payment information for the current year and the last two years.

Note: OAS recipients will only be able to view their most recent payment. To request a copy of your past payment information, contact us and speak with one of our agents over the phone.

Federal voluntary tax deduction

To view, start, change or stop a federal voluntary tax deduction, select the “Federal voluntary tax deductions for CPP/OAS” link.

Once you have completed the change, you will be able to view your estimated gross amount, the federal voluntary tax deduction and your estimated net monthly payment, after deduction.

Change banking information

To change the banking information for your OAS or CPP benefits, select the “Direct deposit (CPP/OAS)” link. From there, you will be able to change your banking information and select the date you want the change to take effect.

Once you have completed the change and received the confirmation page, you may use the link at the bottom of the page to view your changes immediately.

New! You know you have the option of sharing your direct deposit banking information between the Canada Pension Plan and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Note:

It can take up to 30 days for changes to your banking information to take effect. To ensure your next payment is sent to your new account, make sure you provide us with your new banking information at least 30 days before your payment date.

If you have an address outside of Canada, you will only be able to view your information online. It is not yet possible to change the information for foreign direct deposit online. To change your direct deposit, contact us and speak with one of our agents over the phone.

Change of address

You can change your address by selecting the “Address” link. From there, you will have the option of changing your address and selecting the date you want the change to take effect.

Once you have completed the change and received the confirmation page, you may use the link at the bottom of the page to view your changes immediately.

If you have an address outside of Canada, you will only be able to view your information online. It is not yet possible to change the information for foreign addresses online. To change your address, contact us and speak with one of our agents over the phone.

Telephone number(s)

To view, change or delete your domestic or international home, work, and mobile telephone number(s), select the “Telephone number” link.

Updating your name, marital status or date of birth

You cannot use My Service Canada Account for this type of update. Contact us by phone to speak with one of our agents who can advise you on how to update this information.

Giving consent for someone to communicate with Service Canada about CPP/OAS on my behalf

Select the “Give consent for someone to communicate with CPP/OAS on my behalf” link to view, add, change and/or delete the name of an authorized person who has your consent to communicate with Service Canada about your CPP/OAS account.

Canada Pension Plan Statement of Contributions printed from My Service Canada Account is legal/official documentation

The online printed version of your Statement of Contribution is considered a legal document. You may request to have your Statement of Contributions mailed to you by using the CPP Statement of Contribution online service or by contacting us.

My Service Canada Account and Statement of Contributions to the Quebec Pension Plan

If you have contributed to the CPP and the Quebec Pension Plan (QPP) and live outside of Quebec, then this information will be on your CPP Statement of Contributions. However, if you have contributed to the QPP only, or have contributed to both plans but currently live in the province of Quebec, you must contact Retraite Québec to request a separate Statement of Participation in the QPP.

If you currently live outside of Canada and your last contribution was made to the QPP, you must also contact Retraite Québec to request a separate Statement of Participation in the QPP. You can write to them at:
