Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS) information in MSCA

View/change personal information while residing out of Canada

If you have or had an address or payment destination outside Canada or are receiving Canada Pension Plan (CPP) or Old Age Security (OAS) benefits in part under an international agreement, you will only be able to view your information online. This service will not allow you to make any online changes to your personal information at this time. To update your personal information, you can contact us and speak with one of our agents over the phone.

Applying for a CPP retirement pension

Apply for your CPP retirement pension now by signing into or registering for My Service Canada Account.

You will not be able to apply online if:

  • you are currently receiving a CPP retirement pension;
  • you have already applied for the CPP retirement pension and Service Canada is currently assessing your application;
  • you are currently or were previously receiving a CPP disability benefit;
  • you previously received a disabled contributor’s child benefit or a surviving child’s benefit;
  • you were previously receiving a benefit that was paid to a designated third party;
  • you currently live outside of Canada; or
  • you have an authorized third party on your account.

If any of the above applies to you, you will need to complete the Application for a Canada Pension Plan Retirement Pension and include certified true copies of the required documentation, and mail it or bring it to the Service Canada Centre closest to you. Mailing addresses are provided on the form.

Viewing my application status

You can view information on the status of your latest CPP or OAS application. Select the “Application status” link to view messages about the current status of your application.

Change payment destination

Change the payment destination for your OAS or CPP benefits by selecting “View/change my payment destination” from My Service Canada Account. From there, you will be able to change your banking information and the effective date of the change.

Once you have received your Transaction Confirmation, you may use the link at the bottom of the page to view your changes immediately.

Note:

Changes to your payment destination must be made at least one month in advance of payment. When choosing an effective date for your new payment destination, you must ensure the date you are choosing is one month after the current month.

For example, if you want your January payment to be sent to a new destination, your new effective date should be no later than December 31.

If you provide the information close to or past the first day of the month, you might miss the cut-off date. We suggest that you contact us to verify that your change will take effect on the requested date before making any changes.

Change address for correspondence

You can change your address for your correspondence by selecting “View/change my address” from My Service Canada Account. From there, you will have the option of changing your address and the effective date of the change.

Once you have received your Transaction Confirmation, you may use the link at the bottom of the page to view your changes immediately.

Update name, marital status or date of birth online

My Service Canada Account does not allow this type of update to be done. To update this information, you can contact us and speak with one of our agents over the phone.
