“My work has a concrete and positive impact on the ecosystem, because it’s helping to reduce the environmental impact of businesses.”

Meet Catalina Ravilet Guzman, Environmental Enforcement Officer at Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). Since 2019, Catalina has been working to protect our nature and ecosystems by enforcing federal environmental laws. She particularly appreciates how the department’s various branches support each other and the variety of duties that her career brings: every day is different; every inspection is a learning opportunity. The full designation ceremony when Catalina and her colleagues received their badges is her best memory at ECCC. Being out in the field every day with colleagues who are passionate about the environment is also a great motivator for her.
