Engaging the public through community-based monitoring

We are working to build public awareness and knowledge of Great Lakes issues to help encourage Canadians to make personal choices and take actions that promote the health of the lakes.

By supporting community-based monitoring, we are creating opportunities for people to help protect, monitor and assess water quality and ecosystem health as well as collect data that can contribute to Great Lakes decision-making.

Through the Freshwater Action Plan, we are supporting partner-led projects that engage Canadians in monitoring, and result in greater public awareness, knowledge and participation in addressing Great Lakes issues.
