Government of Canada Invests to Boost Business and Investment Attraction in North Bay and Surrounding Areas

February 26, 2016 – North Bay, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario – FedNor
Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing–Timiskaming, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced an investment of $45,000 to support an investment attraction program for the North Bay district.
The FedNor funding is being used by the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of North Bay's Economic Development Department, to create the Investment Attraction Program. Designed for the hospitality, tourism, retail and service industry, the program will provide front-line staff with the marketing tools and training needed to attract private-sector investment to the area by promoting potential business opportunities to suppliers and decision makers.

- The funding announced today is provided through FedNor's Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports projects that promote sustainable community economic development, enhance business development and growth, and facilitate innovation.
- The North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce is a membership organization servicing more than 850 businesses, entrepreneurs and private sector stakeholders. The Chamber offers programs, seminars and information to assist local businesses.
