Government of Canada Investment Supports Economic Growth in Markstay-Warren Region

March 4, 2016 – Markstay-Warren, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario – FedNor
Marc Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced an investment of $63,000 to support youth, jobs and economic development in the Markstay-Warren region.
The FedNor investment will enable the Corporation of the Municipality of Markstay-Warren to hire a youth intern for a two-year period. Specifically, the intern will help the municipality advance economic development initiatives outlined in its strategic plan. While on the job, the intern will be responsible for researching alternate growth opportunities, encouraging business retention and expansion, and undertaking an investment readiness assessment.
Since its inception, FedNor has helped provide more than 1525 young post-secondary graduates with their crucial first job, and assisted businesses and organizations in growing the economy by helping them access a qualified and talented workforce.
