Government of Canada Investment Creates Employment Opportunities and Supports Economic Development in Greater Sudbury

July 13, 2016 – Sudbury, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario – FedNor

Marc Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced an investment of $91,800 to create jobs for two young graduates while supporting key sectors of Northern Ontario's economy, including arts and culture, tourism, as well as economic development and business growth.

Of the total, Wahnapitae First Nation will receive FedNor funding of $63,000 to hire a youth intern for a two-year period to conduct planning activities and help establish a stand-alone economic development corporation for the community. Theatre Cambrian will receive $28,800 to hire a youth intern for a one-year period to perform activities such as marketing, coordinating and expanding major events, as well as strategic planning.
