Government of Canada Investment Supports Upgrades to Community Facilities in the Dryden Region

September 13, 2016 – Dryden, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario – FedNor

The Honourable Bob Nault, Member of Parliament for Kenora, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced a Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program investment of $194,892 in support of three initiatives in the Dryden region.

Of the total, the Dryden Youth Soccer club will receive $100,000 to add shelter facilities to the community's Rotary Park that will provide much needed protection for a variety of user groups, including tournament sports teams. The Municipality of Machin will use $70,750 to rehabilitate the Vermillion Bay and Eagle River fire halls. Upgrades will include new siding, windows, doors, and heating equipment. Eagle Lake First Nation will receive $24,142 to improve the arena boards at its community facility to enhance safety and reliability during hockey season.

The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) funding, delivered through FedNor in Northern Ontario, is part of the Government of Canada's coordinated approach to mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation. These investments across Canada will help create jobs, boost economic activity, strengthen communities, and celebrate Canada's rich heritage and history.
