Government of Canada Invests to Revitalize Astorville Public Tennis Courts

June 6, 2017 – Astorville, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario - FedNor

The Government of Canada is investing $34,750 to enable the Municipality of East Ferris to complete infrastructure enhancements and upgrades to the Astorville public tennis courts. The funding will help transform this community asset into a safe and modern recreational area that will provide new opportunities for residents of all ages to stay active and lead a healthy lifestyle. 

Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing—Timiskaming, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced this Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) investment. Specifically, the funding will be used to remove existing materials, complete site preparations, install new asphalt and upgrade the courts with an acrylic surface. The project will also enable the community to install new posts, netting and fencing, as well as design the surface to accommodate both tennis and pickleball.
