Northern Ontario businesses benefit from new export and growth opportunities

$488,901 from the Government of Canada to help create jobs and opportunities in Northern Ontario’s agriculture, agri-food and equine industries

October 27, 2017 – Warren, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario - FedNor

Northern Ontario farmers, agri-food producers and equine businesses will gain access to important new markets and growth opportunities as a result of a Government of Canada investment of $488,901. This investment will enable Economic Partners Sudbury East - West Nipissing to establish the 17th annual Northern Ontario Agri-food Pavilion at the 2017 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, one of the largest agricultural fairs in the world.

The FedNor funding was announced today by Marc Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor.

The 7000-square-foot pavilion will assist more than 50 Northern Ontario businesses to showcase their products and services to the more than 320,000 people expected to visit the fair this year. The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair takes place from November 3 to 12, 2017, at the Enercare Centre in Toronto.
