Residents, families and businesses in Greater Sudbury are experiencing first-hand the benefits of hosting the 2018 TELUS Cup thanks in part to a $20,000 investment from the Government of Canada. The 2018 Telus Cup is Canada's 40th annual national midget 'AAA' hockey championship, and is being held April 23 – 29 at the Sudbury Community Arena.

The funding was announced today by Paul Lefebvre, Member of Parliament for Sudbury, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor.

Specifically, the FedNor funding enabled the Sudbury Minor Hockey Association to promote activities related to the annual national hockey championship. In addition, the investment helped promote Greater Sudbury and Northern Ontario as tourism destinations to participants and their families, as well as to the tournament’s national television audience.
