Government of Canada investment helps modernize community infrastructure and attract events and visitors

March 25, 2019 – Red Lake, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario - FedNor

Residents and businesses of the Municipality of Red Lake will benefit from new economic and tourism-related opportunities thanks to a Government of Canada investment of $250,000. This FedNorinvestment will help with the construction of an all-weather, fully accessible market and events pavilion in the community’s Centennial Park.

The funding was announced today by the Honourable Bob Nault, Member of Parliament for Kenora, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor.

Erecting the pavilion will allow Red Lake to complete its Centennial Park cluster, which currently includes a green area, walking trails, skate park, baseball diamond, playground and fully-equipped indoor recreation facility. The new structure will provide an improved location and allow for the expansion of the already popular community farmers’ market. It will also increase commercial activity, create new revenue and support local businesses by helping to attract more and bigger events and festivals to Red Lake, thus bringing in new visitors and related spending to the area.
