April 24, 2026 – Sudbury, ON – Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario – FedNor

Northern Ontario businesses are the backbone of Canada’s economy. In a rapidly changing world, businesses must grow, adapt, and lead. This is how we build a stronger, more resilient Canada and that work starts right here at home.

Today, Viviane Lapointe, Member of Parliament for Sudbury, announced a Government of Canada investment of $2,950,000 to help three Greater Sudbury businesses respond to global trade pressures and build for the future. The announcement was be made on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for FedNor.

Provided through FedNor and the Government of Canada’s Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI), these investments will help bring several important projects to life. Specifically, the funding will help Jennmar Canada, Soluroc Sudbury and Lopes Limited boost productivity, diversify, expand into new markets, strengthen supply chains, and grow domestic trade so they can stay competitive and resilient in a shifting global landscape.

With economic uncertainty putting pressure on businesses and workers, Canada must act now and RTRI measures will equip Northern Ontario with the tools it needs to build Canada strong. Together, these priority projects are driving broad economic growth throughout Greater Sudbury and across Northern Ontario by strengthening communities and key sectors, while helping to maintain more than 20 full-time jobs and create close to 40 more.
