Assets and Liabilities Worksheet for Couples

Before you make any serious financial decisions together, it's important to make sure that you both know the state of your finances.

The assets and liabilities worksheet below can help you with this by showing you both your individual and combined net worth.

Download the Interactive Assets and Liabilities Worksheet for Couples (Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that does all of the calculations for you)

Print this page and fill in the worksheet

  • For each partner, write all of your individual assets in the left-hand column and all of your individual liabilities in the right-hand column
  • Subtract the liabilities from the assets to calculate each person’s net worth
  • Add the two partners’ net worth calculations and put the sum in the box marked “Couple’s net worth.” If the number is negative, you owe more than you own in assets. If the number is positive, your assets outweigh your liabilities
