Minister Joly to travel to New York City

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that she will visit New York City on February 22, 2023.

After meeting with key international partners in Ukraine, Germany, and France, Minister Joly will continue her diplomatic outreach in New York City by delivering remarks at the UN General Assembly’s Emergency Special Session on Russia’s illegal, cruel and inhuman war against Ukraine.

As the world approaches the one-year mark since Russia launched its full-scale invasion, Minister Joly will reiterate the importance of holding the Russian regime to account, as well as reaffirming Canada’s enduring commitment to stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes.

Minister Joly will also speak an event on Russia’s egregious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law obligations, she will recognize the courage and resilience of Ukrainians as they continue to suffer repeated attacks by the Russian war machine.
