Minister Ng meets with Singapore’s Minister of Foreign Affairs

Today, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, met with Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Singapore.
During the meeting, Minister Ng underscored that Singapore is an important partner in the region and outlined opportunities to expand Canada’s trade relationship with Singapore within Canada’s recently launched Indo-Pacific Strategy.
Minister Ng thanked Minister Balakrishnan for Singapore’s support for Canada and ASEAN to establish a Strategic Partnership. Canada looks forward to the early completion of the process, which represents an important step in advancing Canada’s relations with ASEAN and a strong endorsement of Canada’s engagement in the Indo-Pacific region.
Minister Ng also reiterated Canada’s strong interest in joining and contributing meaningfully to the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity, with Minister Balakrishnan welcoming Canada’s interest.
