Minister Ng announces appointment of Vivian Abdelmessih as Export Development Canada Board Chair

Export Development Canada (EDC) helps Canadian businesses succeed in markets around the world by providing the financial products and services they need to grow from local to global. Today, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, announced the appointment of Vivian Abdelmessih as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of EDC for a 4-year term to March 31, 2027.  

Ms. Abdelmessih’s appointment will enable EDC to continue its critical work helping Canadian businesses and entrepreneurs of all backgrounds reduce financial risk, succeed in new markets, and contribute to the economic prosperity of communities at home and abroad.

She is a highly experienced professional in the financial services sector, having spent more than 30 years working for different financial institutions in Canada and the United States and she has served on numerous corporate and not-for-profit boards.

Ms. Abdelmessih is well versed in financial and capital markets, with diverse experience across a broad array of industries and segments and her experience will help EDC fulfill its engagements towards Canadian businesses and entrepreneurs.

The appointment of an EDC Board Chair follows an open, transparent and merit-based selection process developed to attract high-quality candidates while reflecting gender parity and Canada’s diversity.
