Parliamentary Secretary Oliphant to attend the ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition against Daesh

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced today that the Honourable Robert Oliphant, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, will attend the annual ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition against Daesh on June 8, 2023, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
During his visit, Parliamentary Secretary Oliphant will engage with Coalition partners and allies to ensure the enduring defeat of Daesh in Iraq, Syria and to thwart the terrorist group’s evolving threat in Africa. Parliamentary Secretary Oliphant will also meet with partners, including senior representatives from the host state of Saudi Arabia, to discuss issues of mutual interest.
Parliamentary Secretary Oliphant’s visit to Saudi Arabia follows the recent announcement of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Canada and Saudi Arabia, on the basis of mutual respect and common interests.
