Minister Ng to attend Association of Southeast Asian Nations meetings in Indonesia

The Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, announced today that she will attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Economic Ministers (AEM) Meeting, being held from August 18 to 20, 2023, in Semarang, Indonesia.

At the AEM-Canada Consultation, an event related to the meeting, Minister Ng will discuss opportunities to increase trade and investment relationships with ASEAN and its member states. She will also underscore Canada’s commitment to strengthening trade and investment ties through its Indo-Pacific Strategy, with ASEAN at its core.

Minister Ng will also take the opportunity to meet with her counterparts from ASEAN member states to discuss priority areas of collaboration, including advancing negotiations toward a Canada-ASEAN free trade agreement and finalizing the ASEAN-Canada Strategic Partnership this year.
