Minister Joly to travel to Germany to attend Munich Security Conference

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that she will be travelling to Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference from February 16 to 18, 2024.

While in Munich, Minister Joly will emphasize both Canada’s continued support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s war of aggression and its efforts to strengthen the rules-based international order. She will meet with her counterparts to discuss a wide range of critical global and regional issues, including Russia’s illegal invasion and the crisis in the Middle East.

The Minister will also participate in a G7 foreign ministers’ meeting on the margins of the conference. At the meeting, she will underscore the urgent need to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza while also advancing prospects for a two-state solution and supporting regional stability. She will again emphasize Canada’s continued support for Ukraine.
