Global Affairs Canada temporarily relocates Canadian embassy staff’s dependent children from Tel Aviv, Israel

Statement

August 8, 2024 - Ottawa, Ontario - Global Affairs Canada

Global Affairs Canada today issued the following statement:

“The health, safety and security of Canada’s diplomatic staff and their families remain a priority for the Government of Canada”

“Due to the unpredictable security situation, Canada has made the decision to temporarily relocate dependent children of Canada-based employees from Tel Aviv. Dependent children and their legal guardians from the Embassy of Canada to Israel have arrived in a third country and are all safe and accounted for.

“We continue to closely monitor the situation, and the safety and security of Canadians remain our top priority. On August 3, 2024, we updated our travel advice for Canadians to ask Canadians to avoid all travel to Israel and continue to avoid all travel to the West Bank.

“We encourage all Canadians in Israel and the West Bank to check our Travel Advice and Advisories often and sign up with the Registration of Canadians Abroad service.

“The Embassy of Canada to Israel and the Representative Office of Canada in Ramallah remain open and consular services are available. Canadians in need of consular assistance should contact the Embassy of Canada to Israel in Tel Aviv by phone at +972 3 636 3300 or by email at taviv.consular@international.gc.ca, or contact the Representative Office of Canada in Ramallah, West Bank, at +972 2 297 8430 or by email at RMLAH-Consul@international.gc.ca.
