Ruby Sahota

Represents the riding of Brampton North

Ruby Sahota was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Brampton North in 2015.

In this role, Ms. Sahota served as the Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs. She was also a member of various committees, parliamentary associations, and interparliamentary groups.

Ms. Sahota is a strong advocate for her community, with a commitment to building a better future for all Canadians, particularly when it comes to delivering better infrastructure, improving access to education, and making life more affordable.

Before entering politics, Ms. Sahota worked as a lawyer. She practised for several years in both the public and private sectors with a focus on criminal law, civil litigation, and dispute resolution.

Born in Toronto and raised in Brampton, Ms. Sahota is driven by the desire to give back. She has worked as a mentor with youth in her community, and is passionate about empowering women and young people to get involved in public service.

Ms. Sahota holds a Combined Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Peace Studies from McMaster University as well as a Juris Doctor in Litigation from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School at Western Michigan University.
