Viviane Lapointe
Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Official Languages and Associate Minister of Public Safety
Represents the riding of Sudbury
Viviane Lapointe was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Sudbury in 2021.
Ms. Lapointe has served on several parliamentary committees, including the Standing Committee on Industry and Technology, the Standing Committee on National Defence, and the Standing Committee on Natural Resources.
Ms. Lapointe has worked to promote Northern Ontario while also addressing the challenges faced in the region. She is a passionate advocate for local businesses and industry, evidenced by her work with leaders in the mining, research, innovation, health care, social, and housing sectors. Since becoming a Member of Parliament, Ms. Lapointe has helped deliver more than $500 million in federal investments to Sudbury.
Prior to entering politics, Ms. Lapointe had an extensive career in strategic communications and community engagement. She was active in her community, advocating for inclusive supports to ensure all members of society, including those with disabilities, have the opportunity to thrive.
Ms. Lapointe is a proud mother of two adult children, Connor and Erin.
