Declare your COVID-19 vaccination status
On this page:
Submit your status
All federal public servants in the Core Public Administration (organizations listed under Schedule I and Schedule IV of the Financial Administration Act) are required to provide their vaccination attestation in the Vaccine Attestation Tracking System (GC-VATS).
How to complete your attestation
Once you’ve logged in to GC-VATS, declare your vaccination status in 3 steps:
- Review and acknowledge the privacy statement
- Enter your vaccination status:
- Confirm and submit your attestation
How to request accommodation
If you are unable to be vaccinated based on a medical contraindication, religion, or another prohibited ground of discrimination as defined under the Canadian Human Right Act, and are requesting accommodation, you will be required to provide supporting documentation to your manager.
If you don’t submit your attestation
As early as November 15, if you refuse to disclose your vaccination status or remain unvaccinated, you will be subject to administrative leave without pay.
If you misrepresent your status
You have an obligation to provide a true attestation. Submitting a false statement would constitute a breach of the Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Attestations will be audited and managers can ask for proof of vaccination at any time.
How your privacy is protected
The Government of Canada Vaccine Attestation Tracking System (GC-VATS) is an application for use by departments and agencies in the Core Public Administration including the RCMP.
It facilitates the collection and retention of employees’ vaccination status and enables departments and agencies to report vaccination rates.
All personal information from public servants is collected in accordance with the Privacy Act and associated Government of Canada policy instruments.
Specific accommodation information is limited to those with a need-to-know at the departmental level.
