Update on guidance with respect to the occupancy of federal workspaces in anticipation of public health restrictions being safely and gradually eased
It has been our priority since the beginning of the pandemic to keep public servants and Canadians safe. As such, OCHRO guidance provided over the past year has supported the safe and productive management of the public service workforce, and remains in effect while public health restrictions continue to apply.
We have learned to work differently and effectively across the enterprise since last March, and we need to build on our successes and continue to progress and modernize. As vaccinations continue to roll out across Canada and departments plan to eventually increase occupancy levels at their worksites, decisions taken in the coming weeks and months will matter for the workforce of the future.
OCHRO, working with partners across government, is committed to providing you with guidance on an ongoing basis to support your planning. We will consult you and key ADMs to ensure this guidance is responsive to your concerns. We will also engage other partners and stakeholders, including the Heads of Human Resources, the National Managers’ Community, and bargaining agents.
At the same time, OCHRO staff are available to support you and your teams as you develop your plans to eventually increase occupancy. Jean-François Fleury, ADM of Research, Planning and Renewal, and his team will continue to convene ADMs at the departmental level to continue these conversations, address emerging pressures and key issues, and to ensure a collaborative forum for collective planning efforts.
