National Anti-drug Strategy funding: First Nations and Inuit addictions services
The Government of Canada funds addictions programs as part of the National Anti-Drug Strategy (NADS) Action Plan. These funds help improve access to quality addictions services for First Nations and Inuit.
NADS has helped:
- treatment centres change to meet community needs, which include providing services for:
- women
- youth
- people with both mental health and addictions issues
- treatment centres achieve accreditation
- addiction workers get proper training and certification
- review on-reserve addiction services, which led to a national framework aimed at improving programming at community, regional and national levels
