Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Collaboration and Information Sharing With Respect to Pesticide Compliance And Enforcement

With which third party is Health Canada sharing personal information

Under this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the Regulatory Operations and Enforcement Branch (ROEB) and Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) at Health Canada (HC) share personal information to the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP). This two-way, indeterminate disclosure came into effect on December 7, 2022. HC and MECP will review this MOU every three years to ensure its accuracy and compliance.

Why is Health Canada sharing personal information

This MOU explains how HC and MECP will work together and share information to support pesticide enforcement. This work includes activities before and after a product is on the market, compliance and enforcement, training, consultation, risk assessment and management, and policy under their relevant pesticide laws.

HC and MECP may share personal information with each other to support compliance and enforcement activities, including compliance promotion, inspections and investigations, related to pest control. The Pest Control Products Act (PCPA) allows the collection and sharing of this information.
