Our directorate also supports the development and advancement of the Branch's regulatory agenda and oversight for all legislative and regulatory proposals under the Food and Drugs Act and related regulatory frameworks.
Offices and divisions
The directorate includes the:
Strategic Horizontal Policy Division
The Strategic Horizontal Policy Division provides leadership for policy development and advice on branch, departmental, Ministerial, and Cabinet priorities. It also leads the Branch's Strategic Plan and works with domestic and international stakeholders to advance its strategic priorities.
In addition, the division leads regulatory and policy development to reduce the environmental impact of substances in health products, and coordinates branch deliverables under the Chemicals Management Plan (CMP).
Office of Legislative and Regulatory Modernization
The Office of Legislative and Regulatory Modernization is responsible for the development of all regulatory and legislative proposals for the Health Products and Food Branch. Evolving our regulatory tools is a key priority for health products and food to make sure we have the regulatory system needed to best protect the health and safety of Canadians.
