Health Products and Food Branch activities are carried out through offices in the National Capital Region and five regional offices:
Atlantic - The responsibilities of this region include enforcement programs for drugs, medical devices, blood, biologics and natural health products from offices in Halifax and Moncton. Also distributes information, liaises with government and private organizations, and supports policy development and consultation activities.
Quebec - The Food and Therapeutic Products programs and directorates are represented regionally through their compliance, enforcement and policy development activities. Both directorates also have a major laboratory component, which makes them highly involved partners at the national level.
Ontario and Nunavut - Inspectors, analysts and support staff in this region deliver health protection and promotion programs, and provide technical expertise and leadership for assigned national programs in the food, therapeutic and natural health products areas.
Manitoba and Saskatchewan - This Region maintains enforcement programs for drugs, medical devices, blood, biologics and natural health products from its office in Winnipeg. It operates an analytical chemistry lab program for food risk assessment, policy development and standard-setting, and also supports policy development and consultation activities.
