The chart describes three clusters of information which are successively aggregated to create the 2011-12 Departmental Operational Plan.

First cluster: The departmental priorities include operational and management priorities, which result into the development of branch operational plans for:

  • The Healthy Environment and Consumer Safety Branch
  • The Corporate Services Branch
  • The First Nations and Inuit Health Branch
  • The Chief Financial Officer Branch
  • The Health Products and Food Branch
  • The Public Affairs, Consultation and Communications Branch
  • The Pest Management Regulatory Agency
  • The Strategic Policy Branch
  • The Regions and Programs Branch
  • The Audit and Accountability Bureau

Second cluster: Various groups perform a quality assurance review of branch operational plans from the first cluster, including:

  • The Chief Financial Officer Branch which reviews planned activities, performance measurement, risk management as well as assets and acquired services information;
  • The Corporate Services Branch which reviews human resources, facilities and security, information management or information technology information;
  • The Public Affairs, Consultation and Communications Branch which reviews public involvement information; and
  • The Healthy Environment and Consumer Safety Branch which reviews sustainable development information.

Third cluster: After the quality assurance review described in the second cluster, the 2011-12 Departmental Operational Plan is developed and comprised of the following sections:

  • A departmental overview including the Program Activity Architecture as well as a description of the governance structure.
  • Departmental priorities including operational and management priorities, which are the same ones that were provided to branches in the first cluster to develop branch operational plans.
  • The departmental funding profile which is presented by branch, strategic outcome, region and program activity. It includes initial budget allocations and revenues.
  • The Departmental Operational Plan which is presented by strategic outcome, program activity and internal service and includes: key initiatives, human resources, performance measurement, information management or information technology, planned funding as well as assets and acquired services.
  • Functional summaries in: human resources services, performance measurement, information management or information technology, investment planning, risk management, public involvement, sustainable development, facilities and security as well as assets and acquired services.
