North America Consumer Product Safety Summit 2015 - Summary

November 17-19, 2015
Mexico City, Mexico

On November 17-19, 2015, Health Canada's Consumer Product Safety Directorate participated in the third trilateral North America Consumer Product Safety Summit with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Mexico's Federal Attorney's Office of the Consumer (PROFECO).

At the Summit, hosted by PROFECO, consumer product safety regulators from Canada, Mexico and the United States discussed ongoing areas of common interest and collaboration under the Cooperative Engagement Framework  as established at the previous 2013 Summit in Ottawa. The first day of the Summit, November 17, consisted of closed meetings for regulators only. November 18 and 19 featured sessions open to stakeholders, offering a variety of presentations on consumer product safety issues such as international collaboration, border protection, risk management and requirements for industry. Presentations are posted at  www.productsafetysummit.com.

At the conclusion of the Summit, Canada, Mexico and the United States issued their third Joint Statement, promoting greater cooperation and engagement in ensuring the safety of products made and sold across North America.
