Consultation on Cymoxanil and Its End-use Products, Proposed Re‑evaluation Decision PRVD2021-04

Notice to the reader:

The online consultation is now closed.

Health Canada is consulting Canadians on the proposal to continue registration of cymoxanil and all associated end-use products registered for sale and use in Canada provided that additional proposed risk mitigation measures are put in place to further protect human health and the environment.

Cymoxanil is a fungicide registered for use on potatoes, field tomatoes and caneberries with protective, curative and broad spectrum disease control properties. It is the only Group 27 fungicide registered in Canada, which makes it important as a resistance management tool.

With respect to human health, risks were shown to be acceptable when cymoxanil is used according to proposed conditions of registration, which include new mitigation measures.

Based on available scientific information, the risks to the environment were shown to be acceptable when cymoxanil is used according to proposed conditions of registration, which includes new mitigation measures.
For a full list of products containing cymoxanil, please consult Appendix I in the PRVD or visit the Pesticide Label Search database.

For more information on the proposed decision open the “Proposed Re-evaluation Decision” .
