Consultation on canola oil, garlic oil, capsaicin, related capsaicinoids, and Captiva Prime, Proposed Registration Decision PRD2026-10

Health Canada is proposing registration for the sale and use of Captiva Prime Technical Insecticide and Captiva Prime, containing the active ingredients canola oil, garlic oil, capsaicin, and related capsaicinoids, for suppression of twospotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae) and thrips on terrestrial food crops, greenhouse food crops, greenhouse non-food crops, and outdoor ornamentals.

An evaluation of available scientific information found that, under the approved conditions of use, the health and environmental risks and the value of the pest control product is acceptable.

Health Canada will consider any written comments received from the public that are directly related to this proposed decision, such as comments directed to the science evaluation, in response to PRD2026-10 up to 30 days from the date of publication of this document (by 9 July 2026) before making a final decision on the proposed registration for canola oil, garlic oil, capsaicin, related capsaicinoids, and Captiva Prime.

Once the decision for canola oil, garlic oil, capsaicin, related capsaicinoids, and Captiva Prime, is finalized, Health Canada will post a Registration Decision on the Pesticides and Pest Management Reports and Publications portion of Canada.ca.
