Pesticides and Food – Consumer product safety
Our priorities are the health and safety of Canadians and their food supply, and this is the guiding principle when regulating pesticide use in Canada.
Under the Pest Control Products Act (PCPA), pesticides must be registered by the Minister of Health before they can be used in Canada. A pesticide may not be registered or may not continue to be registered unless its health and environmental risks are acceptable and there is reasonable certainty that no harm to human health, future generations or the environment will result from exposure to or use of the product, taking into account its conditions of registration.
