Re-evaluation Decision

Dimethoxane is a material preservative used in numerous types of emulsions and water-based industrial processes. Two products containing dimethoxane were registered in Canada under the authority of the  Pest Control Products Act and were subject to PMRA’s pesticide re-evaluation program. This Re-evaluation Note describes the conclusion of the dimethoxane re-evaluation.

The regulatory approach for the re-evaluation of dimethoxane was first presented in the Proposed Re-evaluation Decision PRVD2014-02, Dimethoxane, a consultation document.Footnote 1 Since the publication of PRVD2014-02, all products containing dimethoxane have been discontinued by the registrant. There are no remaining technical grade active ingredient or end-use product registrations for dimethoxane. As a condition of the continued registration of dimethoxane, label amendments and additional data were required. However, these conditions will not be implemented since there are no longer any products registered.

This completes the re-evaluation of dimethoxane.
