Appendix I   Comments

Two comments were received from different pest control services and pest management professionals to highlight their support for the registration of this product.

  1. The registration submission Bayer Crop Science Canada has prepared for Maxforce IMPACT Cockroach Bait Gel will be highly advantageous to the Structural Pest Management Industry.

Due to resistance and aversion issues Pest Management firms across Canada are experiencing when providing cockroach services, it is extremely important that new active ingredients are registered for cockroaches. Adding Clothianidin to the available list of active ingredients for cockroach control will improve our effectiveness in preserving food integrity while protecting public health and food safety. The addition of this new active will also enhance our ability to rotate pesticides moving forward, thus helping to extend the life of existing registered insecticides as we prevent resistance.

In addition, feedback that we have received from U.S. colleagues regarding efficacy of Maxforce IMPACT Cockroach Bait Gel on cockroaches has been very positive.
  2. This is a product that is highly needed in the pest control industry right now. Other bait options available on the market have lost efficacy. A new bait will help take a more proactive IPM approach to cockroaches.
