Notice: Publication of Summary Table of Health Product Advertising Complaints Received and Addressed by Health Canada
March 31, 2015
In accordance with the Regulatory Transparency and Openness Framework Health Canada will now be providing online information to Canadians on health product advertising complaints received and addressed by the Department. In the coming weeks Health Canada will be publishing a summary table of complaints related to health product advertising. This table will be updated on a quarterly basis.
The table will summarize health product advertising complaints received and addressed by Health Canada. It will not include complaints received where Health Canada could not reasonably conclude there was non-compliance with the applicable legislative and regulatory health product advertising provisions of the Food and drugs Act, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the associated Regulations. A sample Table is provided to you with this notice.
This initiative increases the Department's openness and transparency related to advertising complaints and complements current practices of Canadian advertising preclearance agencies (APAs) and key international regulatory partners. It also aims to encourage industry compliance, increase public awareness of Health Canada's actions, and serve as a learning tool for all advertising stakeholders.
We encourage you to share this information with members of your association.
For additional information regarding this initiative, contact the Health Product and Food Branch Inspectorate.
