Consultation on new Guidance Document: For Tanning Equipment

Health Canada is seeking stakeholder feedback on its draft Guidance Document "Interpretation and Application of Radiation Emitting Devices (RED) Regulations (Tanning Equipment)". The guidance applies to all tanning equipment (including components and accessories) manufactured for sale, re-sale, import or lease in Canada and thereby regulated under the Radiation Emitting Devices Act (REDA) and its Regulations. It is intended to provide general information to manufacturers, sellers, importers and distributors about applicable provisions of REDA and its Regulations as well as to identify recommended best practices in support of compliance.

This document should be read in conjunction with the accompanying notice and the relevant sections of other applicable regulatory documents. Comments and suggestions on the draft Guidance Document are welcomed.

Following the consultation, Health Canada will finalize and publish a revised Guidance Document on the Radiation webpage.
