Description

The objective of this proposed amendment to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations is to introduce changes to recognize the unique employment model used in Canada’s public health care system in the eligibility requirements for the Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Worker Class, to provide foreign national physicians the opportunity to qualify for permanent residency through federal economic immigration programs.

This regulatory amendment will primarily impact foreign nationals physicians who seek to become permanent residents in Canada.

Consultations

This initiative is in the early stages of development. The Department plans to consult with targeted stakeholders as work advances. The timing and approach for consultations will be added to this section once known.
