Forward Regulatory Plan
Amending extension of authorization to remain in Canada requirements for certain temporary residents in Canada
Enabling Acts: Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
Description
Amend the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations to clarify the application of the existing provision for the extension of authorization to remain in Canada as a temporary resident to certain temporary resident permit holders in Canada. The intention would be to ensure the availability of the provision to temporary residents who may not be appropriately captured in the existing language, for instance, for those holding a temporary resident permit after the reason for issuance of the temporary resident permit has been addressed and the holder is now admissible and meets the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
Regulatory cooperation efforts (domestic and international)
