Canada-Northwest Territories Amending Agreement Regarding Changing References to the National Occupational Classification

1. Preamble

1.1. The Canada-Northwest Territories Amending Agreement (hereinafter referred to as the “Agreement”) regarding changes to the references to the National Occupational Classification is between His Majesty, the King in right of Canada, as represented by the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration (hereinafter referred to as “Canada”), and the Government of the Northwest Territories, as represented by the Minister of Education, Culture and Employment (hereinafter referred to as the “Northwest Territories”).

2. Purpose and Objectives

2.1 The purpose of this Amending Agreement is to amend the references to the National Occupational Classification in the following Agreement 2018 Canada-Northwest Territories Agreement on Territorial Nominees to align it with new terminology and structure introduced in the National Occupational Classification 2021.

3. Amending provisions

3.1 Upon implementation of National Occupational Classification 2021 the following Agreement 2018 Canada-Northwest Territories Agreement on Territorial Nominees will reflect the following changes:

3.1.1 Occupations referred to as NOC 0 or Skill Type 0 will become TEER Category 0;
3.1.2 Occupations referred to as NOC A or Skill Level A will become TEER Category 1;
3.1.3 Occupations referred to as NOC B or Skill Level B will become TEER Categories 2 and 3;
3.1.4 Occupations referred to as NOC C or Skill Level C will become TEER Category 4; and
3.1.5 Occupations referred to as NOC D or Skill Level D will become TEER Category 5.

4. Taking Effect

4.1 This Amending Agreement comes into effect on November 16, 2022, or if signed after that date, upon the signature of the last of the parties.
