Add a dependant – PSR  applications

These instructions outline the possible scenarios for requests to add a dependant and include the processing instructions for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) offices abroad and the Resettlement Operations Centre in Ottawa (ROC-O).

The scenarios are:

• Biological children born after the principal applicant’s application was received at ROC-O.
• Other dependants (spouse, children of spouse, adopted children, de facto dependants) where a marriage or adoption took place after the application was received at ROC-O.

Each scenario has its own set of processing procedures.

These instructions do not apply to private sponsorship of refugees (PSR) applications destined to Quebec.

Procedures

• Adding biological children born after the receipt of a PSR application at ROC-O
• Adding other dependants where a marriage or adoption took place after the receipt of a PSR application at ROC-O
