Add a dependant – PSR applications
This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by IRCC staff. It is posted on the department’s website as a courtesy to stakeholders.
These instructions outline the possible scenarios for requests to add a dependant and include the processing instructions for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) offices abroad and the Resettlement Operations Centre in Ottawa (ROC-O).
The scenarios are:
- Biological children born after the principal applicant’s application was received at ROC-O.
- Other dependants (spouse, children of spouse, adopted children, de facto dependants) where a marriage or adoption took place after the application was received at ROC-O.
Each scenario has its own set of processing procedures.
These instructions do not apply to private sponsorship of refugees (PSR) applications destined to Quebec.
