Special measures for Afghan applications: How to have your application prioritized

Help us process your application faster by letting us know you applied.

Step 1: Submit your application online

We’re only prioritizing some types of applications. Contact us only if your application is being prioritized. You must submit your application before you contact us.

Step 2: Submit a web form

You must use our web form to let us know you applied. To submit your information

1. Go to our web form.
2. From the first drop-down menu, choose “Situation in Afghanistan”.
3. From the second drop-down menu, choose “Request priority processing for my existing application”.
4. Complete the fields, including
   • your unique client identifier (UCI), if possible
   • your name and date of birth
   • the type of application you submitted, such as sponsorship or temporary residence
   • where your sponsorship application was made (in Canada or overseas), if applicable
   • if you applied online or on paper
   • the email address you used to apply (if you applied online)
   • the date you applied
5. If you applied to sponsor an Afghan family member, upload copies of at least 1 of the following documents:
   • Canadian birth certificate
   • Canadian citizenship certificate
   • Canadian passport
   • permanent resident card
   • other identity documents you have (if possible)
6. Submit the web form.

Make sure to include all the details listed above. Only include attachments from the list above.

Step 3: Wait to hear from us

You don’t need to submit more than 1 web form to let us know you applied. We’ll be in touch once we review your application.

You must write “Urgent – Afghanistan priority” on your envelope before you mail your application. This will make sure we process your application on a priority basis.

You must email us if you already applied (on paper or online) and want priority processing.

To submit your information
