Special measures for Afghan applications: How to have your application prioritized
If you’re eligible to have your application prioritized, you must let us know so we can prioritize it. How to do this depends on how you apply, or if you’ve already submitted an application.
Have you already used our wizard?
Before you apply or contact us, answer some simple questions to find out which special measures you may be eligible for.
If you plan to apply online
Help us process your application faster by letting us know you applied.
Step 1: Submit your application online
We’re only prioritizing some types of applications. Contact us only if your application is being prioritized. You must submit your application before you contact us.
Step 2: Submit a web form
You must use our web form to let us know you applied. To submit your information

- From the first drop-down menu, choose “Situation in Afghanistan”.
- From the second drop-down menu, choose “Request priority processing for my existing application”.
- Complete the fields, including
- your unique client identifier (UCI), if possible
- your name and date of birth

Step 3: Wait to hear from us
You don’t need to submit more than 1 web form to let us know you applied. We’ll be in touch once we review your application.
If you apply on paper
You must write “Urgent – Afghanistan priority” on your envelope before you mail your application. This will make sure we process your application on a priority basis.
