Who can apply

To be eligible for this special program you must meet all the requirements below:

You don’t need to currently be in Afghanistan to apply for this program

You can still contact us to apply if you or your family members leave Afghanistan, or you left on or after July 22, 2021. You don’t need to return to Afghanistan to finalize your application, provide biometrics or get a medical exam.

For this special program, only these people are eligible as family members:

Interpreters who worked with the Canadian Armed Forces and were resettled to Canada under the 2009 or 2012 special immigration programs

If a member of your extended family is still in Afghanistan, or is in a precarious situation elsewhere, and you want to help them come to Canada, contact us using our web form. We’ll respond with more information for you when it’s available.

How to apply

If you meet the eligibility for this special program, follow the steps below to apply. If you already applied, you don’t need to contact us again.

Step 1: Submit a web form

You must submit a web form to contact us about this program. We’ll review your information and contact you with next steps if you’re eligible.

To submit your information

  1. Go to our web form.
  2. From the first drop-down menu, choose “Situation in Afghanistan.”
  3. From the second drop-down menu, choose “Ask about the special immigration measures for Afghans who helped the Government of Canada.”
  4. Complete the form. Include details about your work with the Government of Canada or the Canadian Armed Forces in Afghanistan, such as
    • your job title or position
    • your identification number, if you had one
    • the name(s) of your Canadian point(s) of contact (if possible)
  5. Upload copies of
    • any documents that show you worked with the Government of Canada
    • your passport and the passport for each eligible family member travelling with you (if possible)
  6. Review and submit your request.

Only upload copies of your passports and documents that show you worked with the Government of Canada (if you have them). Please don’t send any other documents or photos until we ask you to.

If you already applied, you don’t need to contact us again.
