2018-2019 Departmental Plan: Gender-based analysis plus

General information
Governance structures The Agency is required to conduct a gender based analysis (GBA+) on proposals that go to Cabinet (it is part of the Memorandum to Cabinet development process). As such the Agency carries out a GBA+ on any of the projects that require a Governor-in-Council decision as to whether the significant adverse environmental effects are justified in the circumstances. The Agency’s Policy Sector is the office of primary interest on the GBA+ work conducted in the context of supporting Memoranda to Cabinet.
Human resources The Agency actively supports the value of developing a diverse workspace that is inclusive of all cultures and groups, and which more effectively represents larger Canadian society.
Planned initiatives

The scope of ongoing CEAA 2012 assessments for Port Authority projects has been expanded to include analysis of socio-economic impacts, which encompasses gender-based analysis plus.

In addition, Bill C-69 proposes impact assessments based on the principle of sustainability, which includes the consistent use of gender-based analysis plus in assessments.
